Weakness and oppression of epigastrium, with oppression of chest. Urine of a deep red color, depositing a copious red sediment. Nausea, with profuse running of water from the mouth, after sleep; better by taking a little food or drink, even a swallow of water. Lye. LYCOPODIUM. Club moss. Subjective. Aching, painful, when sitting; touch, continuing long after stool. Burning in rectum. Cramping pain. Cutting. Discomfort, great distress in rectum after stool, as if much flatus remained; lasting a long time. Itching, evening in bed. Long lasting, aching, discomfort. Soreness, sitting. Sticking. Stinging, stitches, in rectum. Tenesmus, ineffectual urging to stool. Tension, evening in bed. Objective. Bleeding, with even soft stool. Chronic. Constriction of sphincter, spasm of anus or rectum. Discharge, purulent. Eruption at anus. External, during stool, protruding. Fistula. Internal. Large, swollen. Prolapsus ani, the rectum is so contracted that it fre-quently.

WILLIAM. JEFFERSON GUERNSEY, Frankford, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was born in that city in 1854 as son of William Fuller Guernsey, M. D., and Adilene R. Eastman, his wife. In 1875 he graduated M. D. from Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, and is a conscientious practitioner of homœopathy in its purity, adhering strictly to the principles as enunciated by Hahnemann. Dr. Guernsey married, in 1878, Marion M. Morgan, by whom he has two daughters, Grace K. and Helen R. Guernsey.
